DOWNLOADING "GRANDMAS.NFO" AND THE FOLIO VIEWS PROGRAM

Folio Views is a versatile program that allows you to personalize and manage the text in several ways including; annotation, searching, hyperlinking, highlighting, etc. In order to use all of these features of the application, you will need to copy the Folio Views program on to the C: drive of your laptop (or your home computer) You can then create a "shadow file" as a layer on top of  "Grandmas.nfo" infobase which you can edit and personalize without effecting the underlying .nfo file. To learn more about infobases and shadow files Click Here.

The "Grandmas.nfo" infobase and the Folio Views installation files can be found on the Law School network at:

P:/apps/download/courses/strauss

(To copy the "Grandmas.nfo" file, click once on the file to select it, then click on "Edit" from the top menu, then "Copy". You can then access your laptop C: drive (or your network H: drive)  To see your drives click on the triangle in the window next to the folder "Strauss") and then "Paste" the file as indicated below:

If  you would like to use the Folio Views program on  your laptop (or computer besides those in the Law School computer labs) you can download the program from the folder "Folio Views"  (This is the folder located above the file "Grandmas.nfo")

lm2.pg.JPG (12914 bytes)

If you click on the "folioviews" folder you will see 6 folders which contain the Folio Views program. You can choose "Edit" from the top menu and then "select all" and copy the 6 folders and the "Serial Number.txt file to your Laptop, as described above. The file "Serial Number.txt" has the serial number the program will prompt you for during the installation process.   [You can also bring in 6 floppy disks to a student computer lab and copy all of the files onto 6 disks].

Once you have copied the six folders onto the C: drive of  your laptop, you can run the install program located in the "disk 1" folder to install the program on your computer.  Just double click on the file "setup.exe"  as shown below.  This will extract all of the files (from all six disks) and create a subdirectory on your C: drive called "views31".
